Character Name: Agent Margaret “Peggy” Carter
Series: Captain America / Marvel Universe
Age: ~25
From When?: After being handed Steve’s file the declares him “Inactive” towards the end of the movie
Inmate/Warden: Warden. As an officer with the Strategic Scientific Reserve, Peggy is used to being the guiding force to recruits. It is in her best interest to make sure they push themselves to the best they can be.
Item: A plain, manilla file.
Abilities/Powers: Being a woman officer in the 1940’s was no walk in the park. While Peggy has no special powers, she has had to prove herself the best at everything she does. She is a sharp shooter and can pack a mean punch, which she has demonstrated on a few occassions. Otherwise, this tough dame relies on her intellect and wit.
Personality:
Peggy is anything but a damsel in distress, and often makes it a point to let people know this. Determined to prove herself worthy of being in the Army, she maintains a front to all those that don’t know her. First impressions are tough, and if someone wants to be in her good book, they need to make sure they ace theirs. Making jeering or what they believe to be amusing remarks will only put them on her bad side and, ultimately, earn them a punch to the face. In a professional setting, Agent Carter will not let anyone see anything that might be taken as a weakness.
Her tough as nails front isn’t what got her into the Army, however. Peggy is an intelligent woman that works with some of the nation’s greatest minds. She may not possess Howard Stark’s genius, but that does not stop her from assisting the Reserve in every way possible. She was, after all, one of the Agents that was watching the recruits to see if they were fit to be a part of Project Rebirth. Among the recruits, aside from putting on her front, Peggy took no mercy on them. She pushed them, even small asthmatics like Steve Rogers, to do the absolute best they could and to not give up.
When someone manages to break through her shell, which can be extremely difficult in and of itself, she is actually a very compassionate woman. While escorting Steve to the lab, she demonstrated this trait for the first time. She took an honest interest in what he was saying, growing fond of the recruit. More likely, however, she felt the beginning of a kinship between them: They were both stubborn and both had needs to prove themselves. This was the beginning of her shell cracking around him, and was certainly not the end. Peggy was the one to try and call off the experiment as soon as she realized that it could fail, that it may end up doing more harm than good. She cared for the man first, the experiment itself second.
Peggy is loyal through and through. When she believes in something or someone, she will do whatever it takes to stand by their side. She will even go as far as disregarding orders to do what she believes is right, to stay true to what she believes in. In some cases, her loyalty can be mistaken for a “crush” and even though sometimes it may stem from such feelings, the trait is always present. Because she takes her own loyalty so seriously, Peggy also expects it in others. Whether it’s loyal to the country, to comrades or to unspoken attractions, she’s quick to become upset if it’s broken. In the latter case, it can lead to jealousy. Although she will insist that she’s not a jealous person, in some cases she can become extremely jealous. (Case in point: After catching Steve locking lips with the blonde officer, Peggy reacted by shooting at his shield.)
She is undoubtedly brave, following Captain America into battle, without a helmet even. She won’t shy away from a fight, no matter how dangerous the odds. She is the one, after all, that suggested Howard fly them into the war zone so Steve could go look for and rescue the 107th. She even insisted they take him all the way in, despite the fact that it was possible they’d be blown to bits.
Upon entering the barge, Peggy will resemble how she appeared when we first met her as a character. She will take some time adjusting to the new ways and technology presented, but will refuse to show anything that may be misconstrued as weakness. She will have a strict no fun and games policy among those she interacts with, preferring to keep this as professional as possible. However, as she comes to terms with the fact that some people she previously thought to be missing in action are not in such a state, she may loosen up not only around them, but those who see her as well. Still every bit strict with her inmates, Peggy's softer side may just start to peek through. What's more is that she may admit to some of her shortcomings while adjusting to the new way of life.
Path to Redemption: N/A
History: Movie-verse can be found here. Since Peggy in the movies is so drastically different from her comic counterpart, I would find it misleading and unfair to consider that her background. However, Movie-verse Peggy has a much smaller history that we are knowledgeable of.
Sample Journal Entry:
[The video flickers on and off a few times, featuring a pursed set of red lips as the owner struggles to figure out just how this thing works. Pleased that she’s done it correctly, she backs up and offers a very tired and somewhat strained smile to the contraption. It’s apparent that she isn’t from the present day, her hair and make-up are the first clues, but her 40’s army uniform is the real clue in. She smooths out the top and her skirt briefly before speaking.]
Good day. Introductions are in order, I believe...
I am Agent Peggy Carter. I look forward to meeting and working with the lot of you during my stay.
[There's a brief smile, as fleeting as it may be, before she clears her throat. It's a little more than apparent that she's not used to working with one of these things, but took it upon herself to figure out the basics before posting any such message.]
I will answer whatever questions I am able to and will redirect those that I cannot answer at the moment. On that note, if you would kindly, please feel free to inform me of any pertinent information that should be brought to my attention.
Thank you for your time.
Sample RP: This was new and unexpected. Peggy had been ready to tell Phillips that he was out of his mind... But what else could she do, really? She backed up Howard’s search for Steve all she could, looking for him in her own way as well. Never giving up hope. But it was difficult when she was handed a file declaring him inactive. To know that it was unlikely he would ever return.
She needed a good distraction. A distraction that would keep her busy... A distraction would make her forget how much she missed him. She took a deep breath and glanced down at the file in her hands, pushing it forward on the table. She may as well make herself comfortable while she was here.
Maybe the time away from home would bring him back sooner. It wasn’t running away. No. It was being productive in his absence. Now all she had to do was figure out how to use the technology and learn more about the Barge.
